The ultimate guide to making good decisions
Yash was very quiet today. He was engrossed in some deep thoughts as we entered the coffee shop. It did not look like a normal Saturday morning.
“I am having second thoughts.” As we settled at the table, I waited long enough for Yash to gather his thoughts. “It looks like I am trying to do something more than I can. I am having a good job, a decent salary, much more comfortable life. Most likely I will get promoted this year. Is it the right thing to leave all that behind?”
“Hmm. You are asking all the right questions Yash. But that does not mean all the answers are right. It is very natural to have doubts about self. Particularly when you are trying to take a big jump. Have you looked at all the upsides? Where do you want to be a few years from now?”
Have you looked at all the upsides? What if you become immensely successful? Have you considered the risks of staying where you are now? Maybe one day you will get fired just because the company wants to do cost-cutting? You may not get the appraisal or promotion you deserve? …. There are always upsides and downsides for all the choices we make. You may need to weigh them based on one simple question – Where do you want to be a few years from now?
Have you faced this before?
